Mietta's Review
Garema Pl terminates with a collection of important cafes - the seminal Gus', Caffe Della Piazza and now Milk & Honey. This newcomer is a welcome addition to this little precinct. Most of the action takes place inside here where the cascading levels adds interest to a space dominated by the waiter station cum bar. The lengthy menu provides no real surprises with most desserts and bakery items bought in. This is a busy place as the off-hand service demonstrates. A firm managerial hand wouldn't go amiss.

Other published opinions

Canberra Times Catriona Jackson, 16-05-07 Score: 12/20 "Mild and Honey is a good place to stop for a quick bite, especially at breakfast time."

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 13/20 "Funky joints with the nosh to match have been few and far between in Canberra's civic heart, but lower-case-trendy milk and honey is a notable exception. They start the day with energising smoothies, a watermelon- and-champagne cocktail and roasted apple pikelets."

SMH Good Food Guide 2006 Score 13/20 "Canberra's city centre has long been thirsting for a smart, youthful food and drink joint and this fits the bill nicely. Hipsterwearing 20-somethings sip on grand cocktails, while their parents tuck into duck and prawn salad with a glass of sauv blanc."

Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide 2006 - Best cafes "The best casual dining in the city centre remains the newish Milk and Honey. An upbeat and open look and smart cafe eats from ex-Aubergine chef Simon Collett combine to make for a winning package from breakfast through dinner and into drinks."

Sydney Eats 2006 "Funky and stylish, this place is popular with young and old. Breakfast runs from fruit bread or gluten-free toast with Hanks jam $4.80 to the big number of fried eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato and mushroom."

SMH GFG 2005 Score 13/20 "Downtown Garema Place has finally got a groove thanks to this funky, colourful space, which looks after all-comers from sunrise to well after sunset. It's a shiny split-level room that spills out onto the sidewalk, with black and orange leather chairs and khaki banquettes, overseen by a chirpy, playful, black-clad floor team offering simple, seductive dishes."

Sydney Cheap Eats 2005 "This stylishly funky new kid on the block does great breakfast ... The servings are generous and service is good."

Gourmet Restaurant Guide 2005, Best Cafes "Chef Simon Collett has breathed new life into Civic's languishing cafe society with Milk and Honey"
