Mietta's Review
Gorgeous stained glass windows by artist Leonard French are an overwhelming attraction here. Also a pretty spectacular outdoor setting looking over the lake. One stunning situation. Inside is warm and glowing - nondescript but comfortable furnishings. Order at the bar, take a number, plonk it on your table and wait for the well-priced, modern cafe offerings to arrive.

Other published opinions

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2009 "If books don't lure you here, how about a great local wine list, spectaculaP water views, knockout cakes (try the lemon tart), terrific sambos and other dishes nudging restaurant standard? Roasted pear, goat's cheese and prosciutto bruschetta is great"

Sydney Eats 2008 "Gaze at the stained glass windows by Leonard French while you enjoy a Greek salad, sandwich or roll, or something more substantial from the blackboard menu"

Sydney Eats 2006 "The National Library is the nearest thing to a Greek temple we have in Canberra and worth a visit just for the joy of dining among the Leonard French stained-glass windows. The blackboard menu is conveniently located on the wall as you enter: choose and pay at the counter, then find your way to a table inside or out with views of Lake Burley Griffin."

Sydney Cheap Eats 2005 "It's always a joy to visit the beautiful National Library and Bookplate is the best cafe it has ever had. Sit outside on a lovely day and gaze at the lake, but check out the blackboard menu on the way in."
