Mietta's Review
This joint, with its fake vine leaves, Spanish tapestries and formica tables, serves hand made noodles and dumplings from Xin Jiang, the far western, Turkostan province of China. Wonderfully cheap and cheerful, highly recommended for its relaxed atmosphere and spicy fodder. Try the Xin Jiang hand made noodles and Stir Fried Eggplant with soy sauce while watching the chef churn out noodles and the occasional tune on the er-hu (one string violin).

The Sydney Morning Herald Everyday Eats 2011 Score: **
Sydney Eats 2009 "Talk about Dumpling Land. Or is it Noodle Alley? Three noodle joints stand cheek by jowl in this downmarket food court (and that's just the Chinese ones), but the place with the hordes at the door is Chinese Noodle Restaurant - confusingly, also known as Chinatown Noodle Restaurant"
Sydney Eats 2008 "Follow the crowds to this cheerfully downmarket food court and you just might hear that happy thud as fresh noodle dough hits the kitchen counter"
Sydney Eats 2006 "We're here for the noodles, thank you, and the dumplings. This is northwestern Chinese food at its very best. You can tell by the plastic grapes hanging from the ceiling"
SBS Eating Guide to Sydney 2005 "The dumplings come in a variety of cooking styles-they can be braised, steamed or fried; pork, lamb or vegetarian."
Sydney Cheap Eats 2005 "The rather eccentric decor of this noodle house is a joy, with walls adorned with rugs showing flamenco dancing and a ceiling decorated with hanging masses of plastic grapes in the style peculiar to the Silk Road area of northwestern China. The food, too, is mainly northern Chinese - and it's reliably good."
