Mietta's Review
A pleasant room that give its position is artless. The bare room is spaciously set. There are views over the roofs of Woolloomooloo and the Finger Wharf. Quite an attractive menu from chef, Guy Willis, but not much on the wine list. Food is well prepared and nicely cooked. It's operated by Trippas White Catering. The gallery is well worth a visit.

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 13.5/20 "This slick, white, modernist space, with its spectacular views, is the perfect way to satisfy your inner starving artist"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 14/20 "The windows practically wrap the dining room from floor to ceiling. It's a dazzling display of the splendour of the harbour and the insanity of town planners. Despite the performance art and service that, on our visit, was fast before it was friendly, the food commands attention."

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2006 score 14/20 "With a billion-dollar view to the east across the naval fleet and Woolloomooloo Bay, this elegant white room with its red rug and parquetry floor is modern Sydney with a difference totally European inspiration, with nary a sweet chilli sauce or wasabi dip to be seen. The menu is short and sophisticated"

SMH Good Food Guide 2005 score 14/20 "On Sundays this room of machine-age futurism - all white-on-white with polished parquetry floor and open views of Woolloomooloo's cubist rooflines and battleship-grey finger wharf is packed with aesthetes discussing the latest blockbuster exhibition. Polite chit-chat, and sometimes a little revelry, occurs over grilled prawns, panfried salmon fillets or rare beef carpaccio."

SMH Good Living 23-11-04 John Newton "Stunning dishes convince John Newton the art gallery finally has an eatery worth exhibiting. Out of 10 - Food 8 No surprises but, more importantly, no disappointments. Atmosphere 8 A room carefully designed not to draw attention to itself. Value 7 At $80 a head plus wine (a reasonable $35), about what you'd expect to pay for such a meal in such a place in Sydney today. Service 8 Cool, calm, professional and punctual."

SMH GFG 2004, Score 14/20, And-the gallery has free access to the general exhibition,'a Mod Oz menu full of good things...pushes all the right buttons, focussing on fresh, clean, seasoanl flavours, without pushing so far as to falter.'

SMH, good living, 8/7/03, Matthew Evans, score 14/20,'A lovely new space in the Art Gallery of NSW serves fresh, clean tasting modern Australian food thanks to Guy Willis from Trippas White catering.'
