Courier Mail Food and Wine Guide 2011 "Tucked around the corner, a little off the main drag at Portside, you don't hit on Byblos by accident - unless you're disembarking from one of the cruise liners which dock alongside"

Queensland Food and Wine "Is it a bar, is it club, is it a restaurant? Or perhaps all three? Byblos, tucked away at the river end of Portside is a destination for crowds of all ages"

Courier Mail Food and Wine Guide 2009 Queensland Score: 14/20 "It's impossible to talk about Byblos without menton of the bar, because that is the focal point of the establishment. It has an extraordinary collection of spirits, great cocktails and seriously drink-savvy staff"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 Score: 13/20 "At the business end of Portside Wharf is Byblos, the Middle Eastern rep in this food-centric development. Spacious and multifaceted, it comprises a simply furnished area at the front, a classic bistro-style dining room, and an exotic bar featuring a wall of backlit cut-out patterning and curved alcove couches swathed in velvet curtains"

Courier Mail Anooska Tucker-Evans, 19-8-2007 "IT HAS received five nominations in this year's Australian Bar Awards, including best new bar in Australia, and it's easy to see why.Byblos is perched on the edge of the river at the newish Portside complex at Hamilton in Brisbane, and the fitout is designed to be as beautiful as its outlook. The big space combines a traditional Lebanese theme, including woven cushions, curtains and stunning lanterns, with modern twists such as clear plastic bar stools and the sleek and minimalist design."

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "Named after the place on the coast of Lebanon that's considered to be the oldest continually inhabited city, this restaurant takes its cues from a rich heritage"

Courier Mail Lizzie Loel, 26-2-2007 Score Food: 14 Wine: 13 Service: 15 Ambience: 16 "Byblos, at the end of the complex and overlooking the water, is one such example. We visited twice in its first six weeks of operation and wandered around confused, wondering where to sit. Should we go inside to the neatly set tables at the right of the bar or plump for the plush circular couches with padded cubes and coffee tables framed in flowing drapes? Outside there were more options - rows of high tables and stools, but we figured if we were invisible inside, we'd fare no better outside. ... On a recent weekday lunch visit, we were greeted with a welcoming smile and seated almost at once."
