Mietta's Review
Sails is really sails and louvres, relaxed all day dining, on quality tables with very comfy woven cane French cafe chairs. Indoors or out, the dining here is relaxed, fish 'n' chips are marvelous and clearly a favourite amongst the mostly mature diners. The smooth staff here move easily across the timber decks between tables set mostly in two's and fours and are rightly proud of the enormous wine list with which nobody could be less than delighted. From the decking, it's an easy stroll across the grass to the water, with all the scenery that it provides. Entrees $18, mains $32, sides and extras $6-$10.

Gourmet Traveller 2013 Australian Restaurant Guide Score: Stars "It's a winning location, literally on the edge of the beach, the wine list has plenty of depth (with impeccable wine storage), and the food covers just about every base. At one extreme, it can be as simple as a lunchtime prawn sandwich with a glass of Champagne"

Gourmet Traveller 2012 Australian Restaurant Guide "You're a stone's throw from having sand between your toes at Sails where, just before sunset, as the shadows lengthen, lanterns hanging in pandanus trees are lit for twinkling effect"
Courier Mail Food and Wine Guide 2011 Score: 15/20, One Star "You can't help having expectations when you score a terrace table at this smartly casual spot. Noosa main beach is stretched out before you and you're separated from the waves by only a patch of grass, the boardwalk and a silver wedge of sand"
Gourmet Traveller 2011 Australian Restaurant Guide "Not much beats sitting oceanfront at a linen-topped table, moisturebeaded glass in hand, savouring a plate of flawless seafood. But tucking into a vibrant bowl of chef Paul Leete's chilli-lively crisp-fried pork hock jungle curry with the golden arc of Noosa stretching out before you comes close"
Queensland Food and Wine 2010 Guide Score: 15/20, One Star "First timers come for the view but return for the food. Tucked away down the greener end of Hastings Street. Sails has been a favourite of locals and better informed tourists for more than a decade"
Gourmet Traveller 2010 Australian Restaurant Guide "Sails has been a favourite of locals and well-informed tourists for more than a decade. Tucked away on the quieter end of Hastings Street, the view is a key attraction - long-boarders taking on swells, gold sand curving around Laguna Bay, the boulder strewn beaches of Noosa National Park"
Courier Mail Food and Wine Guide 2009 Queensland Score: 15/20, One Hat "Nestled between the end of Noosa's Main Beach and the national park. Sails attracts its fair share of visitors every day, but locals also frequent"
Gourmet Traveller 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide "It doesn't matter how long you sit at Sails; whether it's for a glass of something from the imaginative wine list and a plate of sashimi, freshly shucked oysters or crab rolls with orange miso sauce, or you linger over a multi-course lunch, you won't tire of the view"
Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 Score: 15.5/20, One Hat "Keen to stay close to the beach when you're on holiday? Then you'll love Sails, at the Little Cove end of Hastings Street. All that separates you from the ocean at this prime spot is a silky stretch of sand, a weathered expanse of boardwalk, and whatever treats you order up from the kitchen and the spectacularly stocked cellars"
Gourmet Traveller 2008 Australian Restaurant Guide "Short of feeling the sand between your toes, a table on the terrace at Sails means virtually dining on the beach"
Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "Nestled in a protected corner of Main Beach and the national park, Sails affords sweeping views of Laguna Bay, Noosa's North Shore, and Double Island Point by day"
Gourmet Traveller 2007 Australian Restaurant Guide "If it's a view of the water and proximity to sand you're after, then park yourself under the umbrellas at Sails, where grass is all that separates you from the sandy curve of Laguna Bay. The view south towards the national park and surrounding surf breaks is both awesome and tranquil in equal portions."
Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide "A few steps across the grass from the open-fronted timber deck are the marvellous sands of Noosa's Main Beach, so it's no surprise some diners actually wash up here straight from the water"
Courier-Mail Restaurant Lizzie Loel 14/2/06 score Food: 16 Wine: 18 Service: 18 Ambience: 18 "Sails has front-row seats to the greatest show on Earth. Watching others relax, nap under umbrellas, drop into the crystal-clear ocean or throw balls at each other while you are being taken care of by efficient and extremely pleasant staff who ferry great food and chilled wine to your table is good, very good."
Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 2006 "If it's location, location you're after then you've found it at Sails, an open-air venue that spills onto a small lawn just above the sand of the famous Noosa beach"
Brisbane News Eating Out Guide 2006 "Set right on the front, at the Laguna Bay end of the beach, this award-winning restaurant attracts a discerning crowd."
Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "With a healthy cellar of several hundred wines, and arguably the best location on the beachfront at the national park end of Laguna Bay, Sails has much to crow about. The wicker armchairs are comfortable but it's the view, over a small lawn and straight on to the sand that keeps you captivated"
Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide 2005 "Boat-decking floors stretch out to meet a paved area and grassy knoll just above the beach. Watching people swim, or bake on the beach can be mesmerising when you're encased in large, comfy wicker armchairs, dappled sunlight streaming in. The food is very casual and chef Paul Leete employs plenty of colour and Mediterranean flavour"
Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2004 "As the name suggests, there is a great view of the beach from here, accentuated by the clean, simple interior design. Chef Paul Leete's specialties include a sushi plate and house-smoked salmon."
Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004, Excellent wine list,'Set at the east end of the stretch, tables are focused on the beach...extensive and well-chosen cellar...Flavours on the menu range from Middle Eastern to central Asian with smatterings of Southern Europe...simple but always suburb.'
