Mietta's Review
This smart, casual cafe run by the Robertiello's of Cafe dell 'Ugo in New Farm is providing a level of food and service previously unthinkable in this culinary desert. The bright airy room opens out onto its two street frontages so you can enjoy simple, fresh Italian dishes either inside or out. At last somewhere to eat at South Bank. In 06 mains averaged $27.

Courier Mail Food and Wine Guide 2009 Queensland Score: 14/20 "ttos Located in tourist central South Bank, this is a traditional Italian restaurant or at least the food is, not the decor. It's ambient, light and airy due to the immense glass doors that make up the entire front of the restaurant and overlook the entry to the parklands"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 Score: 13.5/20 "If prizes were awarded for the largest tiramisu, Dell'Ugo South Bank would have to be a contender. Here, the traditional Italian dessert favourite with its savoiardi biscuits, espresso, liqueur and lashings of mascarpone and cream is super-sized"

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "Giuseppe and Gloria Robertiello of Dell' Ugo in New Farm brought their formula for an authentic Italian dining experience to South Bank in 2004, under the care Soula Passaris, the long-serving manager of their original restaurant"

Gourmet Traveller 2007 Australian Restaurant Guide "After surviving and succeeding in the rough and tumble of New Farm, Dell'Ugo has expanded to South Bank. Owners Giuseppe and Gloria Robertiello and Soula Passaris maintain their passion for Italian dishes, with a sharp focus on excellent produce. The modern surroundings are welcoming, and the outdoor ambience lends a festive piazza feel more akin to Rome than Brisbane."

Courier-Mail Good Life Restaurant Guide 2006 "The sister restaurant of the much loved New Farm institution, Cafe Dell 'Ugo, this is a larger version with a contemporary decor of creams, greens and earthy tones that is open on two sides with seating out on the pavement of both streets it is positioned between."

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide "Leading the push for smart Southbank dining, this new contender, the offshoot of New Farm's esteemed Cafe dell'Ugo, comes with serious credentials. The space shines with abundant natural light, tempting the strolling crowd, while outdoor tables help promote a promenade atmosphere."

Brisbane News Eating Out Guide 2006 "Refined and understated, this Euro-chic restaurant, with stone feature walls and clean lines, offers classic Italian dishes on a succinct a la carte menu, with a range of daily specials."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "This little sister to the New Farm restaurant promises the same mix of authentic Italian food and warm, friendly service, although the menu is more suited to the buzzy locale and open feel, with lots of antipasti and stuzzichini (tapas style bites) as well as a full repertoire of classic and flavoursome mains."

Courier Mail Good Life 2/11/04 Lizzie Loel "SITUATED on the thriving new eat-street of Little Stanley Street, Dell'Ugo is the sister restaurant of the popular New Farm icon of the same name. ... Dell'Ugo is a modern Australian restaurant but it does not serve modern Australian food. The menu is classic Italian timeless, and dishes are either unadorned or otherwise done in a traditional way."

Brisbane News 10/04 Natascha Mirosch score 8.5/10 "Dell 'Ugo is a welcome relief from palate overload. There are no clashing ingredients or odd fusions; it's simply quality food well prepared in a nice location. I fought the urge to double-kiss our waiter who farewelled us as we took a post-dinner passegata (stroll) along the boardwalk."
