Mietta's Review
There are lots of cafes in Brunswick St, what makes Mule stand out is not its rather unfortunate name but its obstinately pleasant and efficient service. Which is something rare in too cool to care in this fashionable strip, where cafes are as voracious as noxious weeds. The foods not bad either and the prices are excellent.

Other published opinions

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "This simple cafe with a sky-high ceiling hits the perfect note between laid-back charm and efficient hustle. There is plenty of well-executed cafe fare on the menu, but regulars know the real action's on the specials boards."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 This wholesome cafe is a welcome sight on a road still better known for kebabs and pawnbrokers. Everything about Mule is just right, from the friendly, laid-back staff to the unobtrusive soundtrack of reggae and blues.

Herald Sun Cafe Donna Coutts 17/12/05 "Fast and friendly service at a no-frills, comfortable cafe with a welcoming atmosphere. The food is simple but good to excellent and made with quality ingredients. The pick of this part of town."

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 "Mule the cafe, however, is always hospitable. Welcoming staff greet Brunswick groovers, who hang at the bar drinking soy lattes."
