Mietta's Review
It's well patronised and seems to be visited frequently by those wanting consistently good food from a menu that doesn't change much. It is the sort of place that people like to go to with a nice bottle of wine and the expectation of good food and conversations as there is not too much background clatter. In winter many seek it out for the ambience of the open fire.

Other published opinions

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "Nothing much changes at this north-side stayer. The fitout (exposed brick, homely furniture, elephant collages) is resolutely staid but, when it comes to the food, continuity is a blessing"

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "It's small, and in winter an open fire flickers, but you couldn't say it's romantic when you're bumping elbows and hollering across the table. For yonks, locals have been coming to this brick-walled, big-windowed establishment for entrees like fragrant chicken wrapped in banana leaf, and zesty salads such as nam sod (chicken with lemon, ginger, chilli and peanuts)."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 The glass-fronted diningroom, looking out over the Mirabella factory's garish chandeliers, is a homey space complete with open fireplace and roses on every table.

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 "SITTING by itself on Lygon Street, this unassuming little place is easy to find - just fight the tide of people heading down the street with takeaway bags clutched to their chests. Sit-down patrons will find simple furniture and the usual sequined-elephant wall hangings, but Thai Nee is a cut above your average neighbourhood Thai"

The Age Cheap Eats 2004 "The open fire, classical music soundtrack and tulip arrangements don't say 'Siam' but the menu talks plenty of Thai classics"
