Mietta's Review
Tamarind styles itself as serving contemporary Thai cuisine. The ambience of its modern, bright interior on polished floor boards heralds the promise ahead. Tamarind sticks to food: quick duck-in-and-out at Burke Road level, or a party at the function rooms upstairs. Take away, or ring up for home delivery (five-kilometre radius). The menu is extensive, if service laid back. Vegetarians need not feel left out. The range of fish dishes cannot be passed up. Pla nueng manow - steamed snapper topped with lemon and ground chilli sauce, is sensational. Khao ob mordin, a colourful blend of baked rice with prawns, scallops and vegetables served piping hot in a claypot leaves little room for dessert. Banana pancake topped with palm sugar syrup and coconut ice cream is popular. Tamarind is owned by husband and wife Tam and Des, and opened in 1998

The Foodies' Guide,Allan Campion & Michele Curtis,'With several years under its belt and rave reviews from all the right publications every year,Tamarind has earned its position as the preferred Thai restaurant with foodies around town. With its excellent vegetarian and seafood dishes,it covers all bases well and you can be assured of freshness and individuality in every dish. Our pick? The mixed entree platter to get a taste of everything, and then any of the curries.'
