You go to Brunetti when you want somewhere to sit without being hastled. This is not to say that the food and trademark cakes aren't up to standard, they are. But the real secret is in the service - there is none! You go into whichever of the four shopfronts suits your purpose. One houses a bistro and bar that serves a traditional menu at lunch and dinner, the others coffee, cakes and gelati. Go up to the counter, place your order, pay then seat yourself and your purchases, usually on long stretch of Faraday St footpath tables, hedged from the street by greenery and umbrellas. Once seated you are left to sit undisturbed until nether numbness drives you back to the bustle of Lygon St. Brunetti's wonderful coffee, and produce can be found at Brunetti at the Potter, at Melbourne University on Swanston Street, Carlton.
