Mietta's Review
Tog's offers spectacular views of Castlemaine from the outdoor eating area, has a busy informal dining room and a gallery. Lots of home made cakes, soups and salads. All excellent value. The menu offers enough choices to satisfy all tastes. When in Castlemaine do as the locals do - visit Tog's.

Other published opinions

Age Good Food Guide 2009 "Castlernaine's light and bright Tog's Place hums along daily to the sounds of groups enjoying simple breakfasts, light lunches and coffees! cakes"

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "Nothing is too much trouble at this hospitable ole-reliable, even when it's overrun with hungry families on weekend moms"

Age Good Food Guide 2008 "The warm and friendly Tog's is a stayer on the Castlemaine cafe scene"

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "Most folk feel at home inside Togs, be they spa-soaked mini-breakers on the way back to the city or regular-as-clockwork locals. The downstairs decor is minimalist (refreshing after a rummage in the nearby cluttered second-hand bookshops) and, upstairs, the airy deck has peaceful rooftop views."

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 "Elissa and Jason Wilsher have a good thing going. In the posh end of town, Togs pumps all day long with busy wait staff ferrying coffee and cake, or bagging comestibles in the next-door foodstore"

The Age Good Food Guide 2005 "BY day, it's got to be Thai chicken balls and the local viognier on the upstairs deck. But, at night the double-sided fireplace beckons"

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 "THIS long-established favourite of lunch groups and end-of-week diners keeps 'em coming with staff, surroundings and sustenance that are always spot-on. Whitewashed walls (featuring the work of local artists) and a fireplace in the middle of the room provide the setting for big dishes with big flavours."

The Age Cheap Eats 2004 "LONG a fixture of the Castlemaine food scene, Togs is a warm and welcoming place where you'll find impressive food served without pretension, but with attention to detail."

The Foodies' Guide 2004,Allan Campion & Michele Curtis,'One look at the band of happy diners on the footpath let's you know it's good.By day cafe-like with crisp pizzas, chunky pies and toasted focaccias,by night more substantial, with char-grilled steaks and fish with modern sauces to lift the standard.'

AGFG 2004, two courses for $25 or less.
