Mietta's Review An aggressively retro cafe set amongst chef's knives and commercial kitchen appliances. Sitting at a 1950s laminex and chrome table attended by service so relaxed as to be almost non-existant, the place's eccentric charm takes hold of you as 10 minutes stretches to an hour or two. Breakfast (all day) is the big thing, though you could have lunch or even dinner enlivened with live music. However, you're not here for the food but to chill out to a soundtrack even older than the tables - John Lee Hooker, Oklahoma, big band and country. Prices are as expected - their biggest breakfast is $15.50 as are lunch main courses. Bring your knives to be sharpened but don't come to be fed in a hurry - they don't do quick

The Age Matt Preston, 22-4-2008 "This sense of dowdiness is accented by a stream of blokes leaving with newspaper-wrapped packages of razor-sharp joy. They beam with the sort of happiness that only comes from achieving something avoided for a long time. Their contentment might also have something to do with the home-style tucker here. There's breakfast all day, which reaches its apotheosis with a mound of eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, house-made baked beans and rosti."
