Mietta's Review
Good vibe in this friendly cafe with its reggae and salsa beat helping the breakfast eggs slip down. Open during the day for breakfast, lunch and coffee. The Food is Aussie cafe with Jamaican additions. Reasonable prices.

Other published opinions

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "Island life must be pretty sweet, judging by the crowds who flock to this convivial Caribbeaninfluenced cafe"

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "As this place is often packed for weekend breakfast (locals love to start the day with saltfish and Johnny cakes or inch-thick pancakes), perhaps it's time to escape the babble and discover Babylon's Jamaican-style lunches."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 this relaxed hangout on the edge of a highway ain't your typical cafe. Co-owner and chef Stephanie Kamener brings her Jamaican heritage to bear at Babble. Try her sublime marinated jerk pork ribs

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 "YOU could sit down at one of this friendly cafe's lacquered tables and tuck into a 'Moroccan breakfast' of yoghurt, figs and almonds, or Aussie eggs with the lot."

The Age Cheap Eats 2004 "BRIGHTON ROAD'S an unlikely location for a Jamaican-influenced cafe, but this friendly kitchen rocks to a reggae or salsa beat depending on the day's mood."

The Age,Agenda,13/6/04,Dani Valent,'you've got to come to Elwood to eat Kamener's savoury food.Cafe staples such as fried eggs, toasted pides and gnocchi dominate, but there's also a slew of Jamaican dishes that come courtesy of Kamener's savoury food.'

Herald Sun, Sunday magazine, 2003, Sally Fisher,'This is a tiny wayside cafe in Elwood with an original and surprising Jamaican menu.'
