Mietta's Review
The steak is good at Charcoal Grill on the Hill but the wine list is fantastic. With over 700 well-priced entries, this is a restaurant with a passionate commitment to wine. In addition to what is on offer daily, the restaurant also periodically announces wine evenings to profile specific varieties.

Other published opinions

Age Good Food Guide 2009 Score: 13.5/20 "A restaurant that advertises its customers' steak-eating records on the menu? In 2009? Indeed - the Grill on the Hill even names the record-holders, currently led by a man who ate a three-kilogram porterhouse"

Age Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 13/20 "This steakhouse's raison d'etre is boldly announced by the glass meatlocker that greets diners on entry to this Victorian former shopfront"

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 score 14/20 "The Grill brings a refreshing sense of modernity to Melbourne's steak scene: the opulent crimson walls are (almost) free of bovine portraiture, the smart yet relaxed staff wear black T-shirts rather than bow ties, and it is possible to order something other than steak if you insist, although usually only for entree: smoked salmon, or grilled zucchini and capsicum, for instance."

The Age Good Food Guide 2005 "With linen, good glassware, a knife, fork and dagger-like steak knife, you're fully equipped to tackle the hand-sliced, char-grilled beef and some great red wine. The 19-page wine list documents Dejan Derbogosijan's oenological obsession"

The Foodies' Guide 2004,Allan Campion & Michele Curtis,'If the combination of brilliant steak and red wine really does it for you, then this is the place to eat. There's nothing else we can add, just go.'

AGFG 2004, score 14/20, excellent wine list
