Mietta's Review
A most beloved beer drinker's den, ironically set in the gardens of the Institute for the Blind. The decor is authentic European Brasserie, and on Friday nights when the suits invade it's Hogaardten and frites, frites and hogaardten. In the summer months when the masses invade the gardens there is a barbie set up churning out the bratwurst . An extensive a la carte menu is also available featuring mussels cooked 8 different ways.

Age Craig Platt 14/10/05 "As the sun sets over St Kilda Road, the city's workers take a short tram ride from the CBD to one of the city's best, and largest, beer gardens. Set within the grounds of the Royal Victorian Institute of the Blind, the Belgian Beer Cafe has become a highlight for beer lovers during warm Melbourne evenings"

The Age, Agenda, 28/3/04, John Lethlean,'Sprawl on the lawn with Belgian fries and mayonnaise or sit down in the handsome bluestone building for a pot of mussels, Flemish beef stew, or veal and pork sausages on stoemp (mash with vegetables and bacon). The super-efficient bar brigade are also excellent eye candy.'
