Mietta's Review
Hardware Lane is vibrant, busy and chic, and this establishment fits in perfectly. Miro is contemporary but not pretentious, simultaneously welcoming the corporate client and university students. Named after the spanish artist whose prints line its walls, the vibrant colour extends to the couch area at the front of the cafe. Jazz music plays loudly, but not so much that it obstructs the flow of conversation, but just enough to nourish the spirits. The food here is also substantial, in style and in serving, this isn't a luncheon spot for the nibbler. It's also a great place for a quite coffee and breakfast of a morning, but at lunch it's suit territory. It's busy and very fast-paced, the staff are the rare breed who can stay friendly under pressure, which is refreshing.

First the waiter commented on our 'big lunch' of two courses, then emerged 15 minutes later to confess he'd forgotten to put our order in. five minutes later came the announcement that one of our dishes was unavailable. A new drink order was also forgtten. But we liked the jazz music pumped out to the 10 outdoor tables and inside, Cafe Miro has a pleasant ambience with movie posters, timber tables and yellow walls. The food is, dare we say, overpriced, with most f the salads on the wrong side of $10, a poorly presented summer salad (asparagus, avocado, mxied cress and lemon myrtle dressing) cost $14.50, and a main dish of chicken in soy honey marinade with bok choy and red onion marmalade ($16) was uninspiring. There were four dessert offerings but we don't have all day..."
