Mietta's Review Founded in 1986 and redecorated a couple of years ago, this tried and true Japanese restaurant knows what it is doing when it comes to food. The menu offers a good selection of traditional dishes as well as a few 'modern' additions, there is also a separate seasonal menu, and all of it is good quality. Popular for business lunches.

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 score 13/20 "Murasaki is a real stayer, notching up two decades in business in 2006. There isn't too much to give away its age; that is, if you overlook the wall-to-wall cream paint job, the pine fittings and the signed recommendations (how '80s) from 'celebrity' customers on the walls. The polished floors and unclothed tables are still smartly unobtrusive and it remains a welldesigned if slightly impersonal space."

The Age, Sunday Life, 8/2/04, John Lethlean,'A recent facelift has freshened the appeal of the place and the food provides a reason for its longevity. The sashimi and sushi are good without being too creative.'
Herald Sun, Sunday magazine, 5/10/03, Graham Pearce score 6/10'
