Mietta's Review
The hotel may have been sold but the Avoca steams on. Normally it resides sedately in town moored to the wharf but come Sunday it takes off for lunch and a cruise of the river. Great fun and reasonably priced for the experience - $49 adults, $15 children's menu.

Other published opinions

Herald Sun Eat Simon Plant 26/11/05 "BIG wheels keep on turning down the Murray River, but each Sunday, when ropes are thrown and it pulls away from the wharf, the Avoca is not carting timber or wool. This handsome 1877 riverboat has hungry people on board who want to get in on one of the best lunch deals in country Victoria. For only $49, they get to drift down our noblest waterway, throw back some fine Riverland wine, and tackle a feast prepared by that other mouth of the Murray, Stefano de Pieri."

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 "No longer content with land-based restaurants, Stefano de Pieri has taken to the water with the Avoca Riverfront Cafe, operating from an 1887 paddle-steamer. It's moored on the Murray River, but every Sunday the massive red paddle turns, taking diners for a cruise past willow-lined banks."

The Foodies' Guide 2004,Allan Campion & Michele Curtis,'This restored paddle steamer offers light meals, coffee and wine by the glass throughout the day.By night, you can visit Stefano's afloat. The revered degustation menu from Stefano's cellar is transformed to the boat every night from Tuesday to Sunday'
