Mietta's Review
The Grand's new owners have kept the grill which draws its name from the Spanish Grill that graced the Hotel in pre-Pieri days. It is as the latter part of the name suggests a grill room. Here you can have a variety of meats from kangaroo to cow chargrilled to your liking. And, for the faint-hearted there's a fish of the day.

Other published opinions

Age Good Food Guide 2009 Score: 14/20 "It's an unabashed celebration of the bovine at the Spanish Bar and Grill; a carnival of steak perfectly suited to the rural oasis setting and the bucolic view over Seventh Street and the river"

Age Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 14.5/20 "It's not new and it's not Spanish, but let's not quibble over semantics. It's a grill with a bar, and a damn fine one at that"

Herald Sun Eat, Bob Hart, 21-07-07 "But if you feel you can muddle through on a diet of ethically raised beef, Victoria's finest lamb, impeccably farmed murray cod, contented fresh yabbies, citrus fruit to die for, raisins, sultanas, rich avocados and even mangoes, not to mention enough locally produced wine and extra-virgin olive oil to fill the Thompson Dam, then look no further ... A mate and I were devoid of any such good intentions last week, however, when we sat down to dinner in The Spanish Grill - just one of the splendid eateries in Mildura's Grand Hotel that seems to be the centre of power in this charmingly food-obsessed city."

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 score 14/20 "Deco windows frame the Murray River at this no-nonsense steakhouse, with panelled walls and heavyset chairs (able to hold an ample rump). The chalkboard menu reads like the contents of a butcher's shop"

"STEFANO DE PIERI'S newest restaurant is a carnivore's haven where excellent aged beef, kangaroo and the odd bit of fish are grilled over glowing redgum. ... Order your food and drinks at the bar. Pay as you go."
