Mietta's Review
For Australian cafe food in the funky end of Chapel St the Globe Cafe is the place to go. The flavour balance of the well cooked dishes is good and the many ingredients complement each other - no easy thing to achieve with this style of food. The price is average for the area (mains around $17), the service from cool waiters dressed with extreme casualness, is fine if a little familiar. The room is warm with a bar in the shopwindow for those who like to keep an eye on the Chapel St parade.

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "Fancy a foreign affair? You could save on the airfare and head to this retro-chic corner caff, which serves up meals from Portugal to India and everywhere between."
The Age Cheap Eats 2006 If your body clock is seriously out of sync, then hotfoot it to this long-running, studenty cafe where breakfast is served till 6pm.
The Age Cheap Eats 2005"Mix 'n' match furniture speaks of student days, as do all-day breakfasts and tofu burgers. As the name suggests, Globe boasts a peripatetic menu"
Age A2 17/7/04 "First thing in the morning, the music can occasionally be a bit too loud (at least it's not doofdoof), but a stiff vodka wrapped in tomato juice does wonders for the ears. Accompany this man-sized bloody mary with an equally robust Italian brekkie ($13) featuring fried eggs, capsicum, spinach, basil and mozzarella, with tangy mayo on thick hunks of polenta bread."
The Age Cheap Eats 2004,Good vegetarian options,Excellent breakfasts,'Late-risers love this sunny corner cafe because the international brekkie runs until 6pm and the coffee's as good as you'll find this side of the river.'
The Age, Epicure, Unexplored Territory, Matt Preston, 19/11/02. A funky local cafe with a menu spanning numerous continents.
The Sunday Age, 17.01.99 "This is the sort of place that locals who can't or won't cook drop by most days of the week: an unpretentious, welcoming space with 1950s vinyl chairs, cakes, friendly staff, piles of magazines and good food all day long."
Sunday Life, The Way We Live, 20/7/03, Dani Valent,'Globe's grilled chicken, bacon and avocado on olive toast is legendary. Monumental desserts include chocolate ripple cake and bread and butter pudding.'
