Mietta's Review
A combination of the best flavours from Thailand, Nonya cuisine (a mix of Cantonese and Malaysian tastes) and Australian produce sets Isthmus of Kra apart. The service and surrounds are quiet, almost theatrical, but friendly. Very popular with locals. Wine list is also very good.

Other published opinions

Age Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 14/20 "Trendier places might wax and wane, but the Kra has been doing opulent South-East Asian fusion since 1989 without shouting from the rooftops, seemingly impervious to more recent food fashions"

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 score 13/20 "Amid soft downlights, Hanuman the Monkey God gazes with bemusement on diners as they consume time-honoured Kra staples"

The Age Good Food Guide 2005 score 14/20 "IN a city bereft of top-end Thai eateries, the Isthmus of Kra has long been regarded as Melbourne's best exponent of this diverse and subtle cuisine."

AGFG 2004, score 14/20, excellent wine list and wide selection of vegetarian dishes
