Mietta's Review
If melted cheese is your thing this reasonably priced, cheerful, laminex tabled cafe is the place for you. The food is Mexican, the chef is trendy, prices are good and the service minimalist. The funky crowd is from the economy end of St Kilda out to eat quickly and pass on into the night.

Other published opinions

Age Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 13.5/20 "Don't be tooled into thinking Bluecorn ploughs a narrow furrow of nachos and walls dripping with sombreros. Chef Justin Pola's innovative approach to Mexican staples owes as much to the south-west of the US, or even California, as the Pueblo cuisine south of the border"

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 score 13/20 "There's a cactus here, a matador print there, but the Mexicana touches are kept low-key in Bluecorn's citrus-hued main room and crimson courtyard. Not so on the plate, where Justin Pola's imagination is clearly in evidence."

The Age Good Food Guide 2005 "MEXICAN food comes of age at Bluecorn, a smart cantina with ambitions beyond the Tex-Mex blandness of its chain-eatery competitors. The differences start with the decor and the blessed absence of battered sombreros lining the walls."

The Foodies' Guide 2004,Allan Campion & Michele Curtis,'Think Mexican, then think modern and you'll have bluecorn.Yep,a twist on the classics takes place each night and it's good.We like the tortillas with chorizo sausage, rice and green onion or spice roast lamb and eggplant. The burritos and tacos are just as inventive:smoky beef and black bean, spicy chicken, pinnut and spinach or spinach, jalepeno and mushrooms are just some of the suggestions. You may prefer the steak fajitas with red peppers and onions,or blue corn goat's cheese quesadilla with eggplant, tomato and salad.'
