Mietta's Review
The restaurant is part of the Outlook Hill Vineyard which lies between Yarra Glen and Healesville. It's a new venture in a very simple concrete floored structure that features views over the vines to Lillydale and the distant Christmas Hills. The food is officially Modern Australian but the version offered leans towards the European palate - after all vineyard restaurants should have some affinity to wine. This promises to be a restaurant to watch in the Yarra Valley.

Age Good Food Guide 2009 "Snug beneath Crus high-pitched roof by the wood-fired heater on a wintry evening, you could be in a snow lodge; come summer, the veranda beckons"

Age Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 14/20 "With a dramatically sprawling landscape outside, homely cosiness within, Cru welcomes visitors with an easy-going confidence that imbues the whole experience"

Gourmet Traveller 2006 restaurant guide "The short drive along a eucalypt-lined dirt road makes this smart little restaurant with Yarra Valley views of endless grape vines and misty blue hills seem more isolated than it is."

Herald Sun Eat Bob Hart 22/10/05 "Cru is compact and contemporary, serving food that celebrates glorious local produce, and remains timeless. The restaurant, run in harmony with, but independently of, the vineyard, is a partnership between two gifted food professionals - chef Leonard Kusnezow and maitre d' Gil Spence, both of whom have made their marks elsewhere, at times in tandem, but have now settled in the region. ... 'We planned it as an intimate, casual place that fills a niche that we identified', Gil says."
