Sunday Times Dennis Lingane, 28-05-06 "IT was built as the ultimate palatial hotel in the gold-rush days in Kalgoorlie. The Palace Hotel was built in 1897 and nothing was spared to make it luxurious over the next 12 months. There were exotic chandeliers, a grand staircase and 50 luxury bedrooms with high ceilings. The Palace is now owned by charismatic couple Ashok and Marie Parekh. They bought it 18 months ago and set out to put their stamp on it."
