Mietta's Review
Only 5 minutes out of Margaret River and a daunting drive through huge acreage of vineyards and you arrive at an extravaganza of modern masonry, timber and glass which hints at Japanese style. The glass gives light and views and in spite of an enormous stone island fireplace, diners were warming themselves intermittently, the room was rather cold. Quality Blondwood tables and padded chairs were set up with fine cutlery, well attended by handsome staff, nicely uniformed serving wines from both Xanadu and their neighbours, benevolent I thought. Dine on quality meals or enjoy a glass or coffee in the comfortable couches by the fire. Plenty of wine industry souvenirs to be had here.

Gourmet Traveller 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide Score: * "The synergy between East and West is exquisitely executed at this expansive, airy dining room close to the Margaret River township. Too often, successful restaurants lose their culinary intimacy"

Gourmet Traveller 2008 Australian Restaurant Guide "Wayne Booth's talents have been liberated since the Rathbone family - owners of the Yarra Valley's Yering Station, Mount Langi Ghiran in Victoria's Grampians and Coonawarra's Parker E $tate - bought Xanadu in 2005"

Gourmet Traveller 2005 Australian Restaurant Guide * "The entrance to Xanadu is via a spectacular grassed and paved courtyard, complete with barbecues for the summer. Inside is impressive as well - soaring ceilings, lots ofwood and glass with a grand fireplace and elegantly dressed tables."

Sunday Times Gail Williams 24/4/05, 3.5/5 stars"The corporate attitude does not detract from the provincial ambience of this friendly, relaxed place where the natural thing to do after a pleasant lunch is take a stroll through the adjoining art gallery. The menu, compiled by chef Wayne Booth, formerly of Jo Jo's Seafood Restaurant in Nedlands, contains enough family favourites to make Xanadu an ideal choice for a catch-up with friends as well as a few dishes to satisfy the gourmands."

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004, 1 Black Star,'Grazing one's way through the tapas-style entrees at Xanadu paves the way to more serious fare. The wood-and-rock dining room opens on three sides to landscaped gardens and features quality napery and glassware...wine list is concise...good-natured,generous staff'
