The Independent Palate

Settling
Settling a difference, like gentlemen, with Champagne

Originally published in the Mietta's Newsletter of June 1990, this discussion on wine looks at the ways in which we deceive ourselves, and are deceived, by others about its value. Value, in this case, means several things - first, a wine's dollar value, second its emotional value, and third the objective value of its taste.

So, we look at the Wine Trade . Then we investigate buying and caring for wine . Next, we discuss drinking the stuff and lastly we ask the all important question - how do we know when it's good?
