Age Michael Harden, "Spice Market, in the former food court of the Grand Hyatt Hotel, is clearly a laneway bar, given its laneway entrance. But with the possible inclusion of recycled materials (if you want to call massed Asian and Middle Eastern antiques, including a small Sri Lankan temple, recycled) Spice Market turns all the other perceived laneway bar wisdom on its head. The impressively large space is split-level with an open kitchen, lines of private rooms and a bewildering range of seating options (bar, couches, upholstered chairs, ottomans, benches, banquettes)."
Herald Sun AFTER DARK, "An honour guard of gilded statues and a quarry load of marble create a palatial vibe. Take your pick from the archipelago of lounges and ottomans surrounding the large central bar or hide out in one of the circular booths."
